Launch: deploy your app
In the Launch stage, Codalio deploys your app to the cloud and gives you a live link to share. It handles the hosting setup for you.
Before you start
- A Plus or Premium plan. Deployment isn't available on the Free plan or during the trial.
- Your code is on GitHub. Codalio deploys from your repository, so click Apply Changes to GitHub in the Build stage first. If you haven't, the Launch card reminds you.
- A Cloud Deployment for this product. See below.
Run the App preview in the Build stage to confirm your app works before deploying it.
Cloud Deployment
Each live app uses one Cloud Deployment.
| Plan | Cloud Deployments |
|---|---|
| Premium | 1 included. Additional deployments can be added. |
| Plus | Not included. Add one per product you deploy. |
Additional deployments are a separate monthly subscription per product. The current price is shown before you pay. When you deploy a product that needs one, Codalio shows the price and takes you to a secure Stripe checkout. Deployment starts as soon as payment completes. Each Cloud Deployment is billed on its own invoice, and your main plan doesn't change.
Deploy
- On the Project Lifecycle bar, open the Launch stage card.
- Click Deploy to cloud.
- Wait while Codalio deploys your app (Deploying...). This can take several minutes.
- When it's done, you'll see Your application has been successfully deployed to the cloud.
Click Open your app to visit it, and copy the link under Share your link to share it. Once your app is live, the Deploy button on the lifecycle bar opens it directly.
Ship an update
After more Build runs, click Redeploy to cloud. Codalio publishes your latest generated code to GitHub and then updates the live app.
If the deployment fails
You'll see Deployment failed. Click Retry deployment. If it fails again, contact support with your project name.
If the card asks you to Reconnect GitHub or Install Codalio app, Codalio has lost access to your repository. Follow the prompt, then deploy again. See Connect GitHub.
Cancel a Cloud Deployment
Go to Subscription in the account menu, find the Cloud Deployment and click Cancel Cloud Deployment.
- It stays active until the end of the current billing period.
- After that date, the live app enters a grace period and is then taken down.
- You can subscribe again at any time.
Your code stays in your GitHub repository, so you can always deploy it elsewhere.
